A bucket list is a list of all the goals you want to achieve, dreams you want to fulfill and life experiences you desire to experience before you die. Goals on your bucket list are mainly meant to be achieved once. We decided to make a bucket list which is specially made to do during your travels around the world. A bucket list with activities which you should do in every country you visit!
There are people wherever you go. Just like back home, some strangers will rebuff your friendliness; but others will open up and have great stories to tell. Talk to the locals as much as you can. You’re in their home now, and they’ll likely have interesting things to say about it – stuff that you wouldn’t get in your guidebooks.
2.Eat local food
Put your phone away and stop searching the internet for the best food hotspots at your destination. Instead wander around and ask some locals, they are the ones who know best about the location and most of the time they can tell you all about the local cuisine. A good incidental for the budget travelers among us is that most of the time these restaurants are way cheaper than ones found on the internet. So go out and stroll those streets!
Tip: Can't find a local who can help you? Look for restaurants which are full of locals, most of the time these restaurants are of good quality and low in price.
3.Drink local drinks
Whether you are drinking Sangria in Spain or downing some Soju in Korea. Every Country has it's own drinking traditions, time to get hammered local style!
4.Learn the language basics
Learns the language basics of the country you're visiting many locals will appreciate it when you try to speak their language. If you’re starting from scratch, the first thing you need to do is think about which words you’ll be using most on a daily basis in whatever situations you might be in — starting a conversation, sitting at a bar, talking about yourself, ordering in a restaurant, whatever it is.
You didn’t travel all the way to a new destination to do the same stuff that you do back home, did you? Challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone, each and every day you’re on your trip. Yes, this could mean doing something “crazy” like jungle trek or cycle up an active volcano. Or, it could be something a little more tame: like trying a food item you’ve never had before.
6.Take public transportations
Instead of taking taxi's or renting a car take the public transport this way you have way more contact with locals, it will increase your travel independence and it's way cheaper.
7. Buy a real souvenir
Traveling is the perfect opportunity to find some truly special items that will serve as a great memory of your adventures. So hit the market and buy something you'll cherish for years.
8.Keep a travel journal
Take photos. Recap your days with your travel mates. Write down your memories and save them for later. In this way you will always remember those special moments, it doesn't matter what, it can be the small talk with that stranger in Italy or that delicious meal at a street stall in Indonesia.
9.Explore the neighborhood and get lost
Leave your map at home for one day, get off the beaten track and seek the unexplored. Many times during our travels, we just wandered around with no clue where to go. Even though we got lost sometimes, it is our way of meeting the nicest people, eating the best food and see things we would never see if we followed the tourist map or the Lonely Planet we bought.
10. Enjoy the moment
Don't forget to enjoy and suck in all those beautiful experiences. It is important to every once in a while, put your guidebook down. Put your camera and smartphone away. Just look around and enjoy the moment. Take the time to relish the fact that you’re standing on the ground you’ve never stood on before.
Do you have some bucket list activities that should be on this list? We would love to hear them!
