During a trip in the Jungle of Laos, our guide taught us how to catch frogs. The reason the guide wanted to catch some frogs was for our breakfast the next day. This breakfast would exist out of rice and fruits which we packed, but our main dish would be Frogs. The small frogs we were going to catch are a famous meal in the region. At night they are relatively easy to catch if you have a flashlight and a rice field around.
How to catch a frog
The trick is to slowly walk into rice fields and walk to the sound of the frog. At the same moment you need to hold your flashlight in the direction of where you’re walking and if you look close enough you can see two really small dots in the field. These two small dots are the eyes of the frog, which are reflecting into the flashlight beam.
As long as you are quick you'll have a good chance of catching them, you can use a net or just your bare hands. Once you have caught the frog, hold it by the legs and place its arms on your finger. It's difficult for them to jump away this way. After many tries, we caught a few frogs which would serve as our breakfast in the morning.
