You may know Eilat as a resort town with a buzzing nightlife, a crystal clear sea and stunning coral beaches. Although most people visit Eilat in desperate need of relaxation, it is possible to use it as a starting point for your next adventure. In just a 20 minute drive you can visit one of Israel’s most fascinating and fairly unknown scenery.
One of the hidden gems we discovered exploring the area around Eilat was the Hidden Valley. On this astonishing place where you can enjoy a complete silence. But don’t expect fat and beaten paths, there are a lot of rocks to climb. Hidden Valley exists out of the most beautiful colored rocks we’ve ever seen, an astonishing scenery and best of all there is nobody there!
We found this place while exploring the surrounding area of Eilat. Since Israel offers many scenic spots we went out exploring with our trusty Fiat 500. While driving on Route 90, we saw some scenic spot indications of Hidden Valley.
We decided to turn up on the dirt road driving into an unknown end. The road had many potholes and our car was totally not made for this, but we remained going. After a while of driving these bumpy roads and often enough thinking about turning back before our car would break down’, we came to the end of the road.
With our backpack full of hummus, pita and some water we started our hike through Hidden Valley. In the Valley’s trail we came along the colorful mountains, rough paths and the best of all there was no one in sight. A good thing about the trails in Israel is that they are all well marked. Getting lost while wandering around one of the many scenic spots isn’t very common.

The view and such kind of silence was simply breathtaking. On the top of the mountain, we enjoyed a beautiful view with a picnic from our packed foods. We saw the sun disappear behind the mountains and after that, we went back to the habited world.
Hidden Valley is one of the most extraordinary places we’ve ever traveled to and would definitely recommend you to visit when traveling to Israel!
